Due to the insolubility of iodonium salts in non-polar solvents, polar solvents such as methanol and chloroform are required to dissolve monomers in the photopolymerization system using them as initiators. Due to the toxicity of its negative ions (AsF6-, SbF6-, etc.), its application is greatly limited. In response to these issues, new iodonium salts have been synthesized in recent years, mainly to improve solubility in solvents with lower polarity and reduce toxicity. The synthesis of bis (4-tert-butylphenyl) iodide as an iodonium salt compound is of great significance.
